Pre/Post Vein Treatments
Pre-Treatment Care:
Consultation: Have a thorough consultation with your provider to discuss your medical history and treatment goals.
Avoid Blood Thinners: Refrain from taking blood thinners, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or certain herbal supplements, for at least 48 hours before your treatment.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment to help your veins be more responsive.
Sun Protection: Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks before the procedure to reduce the risk of complications.
No Skincare Products: Avoid applying any lotions, creams, or products on the treatment area the day of your session.
Post-Treatment Care:
Ice and Elevate: Apply ice packs to the treated area and elevate your legs to reduce swelling and discomfort.
Compression: Wear compression stockings as recommended by your provider to promote healing and improve circulation.
Avoid Strenuous Activity: Refrain from vigorous exercise or heavy lifting for at least a week post-treatment.
Sun Protection: Continue to protect the treated area from sun exposure for several weeks to prevent pigmentation changes.
Follow-Up: Attend any follow-up appointments to monitor your healing and results, and discuss any concerns with your provider.
Contraindications
Pregnancy: Laser treatments are generally avoided during pregnancy due to hormonal changes and potential risks.
Active Infections: Any active skin infections or lesions in the treatment area should be resolved before proceeding.
Blood Clotting Disorders: Conditions like thrombophilia or a history of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) may increase risks associated with the procedure.
Certain Skin Conditions: Eczema, psoriasis, or other inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment area can complicate the procedure.
Recent Use of Accutane: Patients who have used Accutane or similar medications should wait at least six months before treatment.
Tanning: Recent tanning or sunburn can increase the risk of complications; skin should not be tanned prior to treatment.
Medications: Some medications, particularly blood thinners, may need to be paused or adjusted before treatment.
Poor Healing: Individuals with compromised healing abilities, such as those with diabetes or autoimmune disorders, may be at higher risk for complications.
