Pre/Post Permanent Makeup

Preparation for Permanent Makeup

  • Do not exercise on the day of your service.

  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, aspirin, fish oil as well as other blood thinners 24-48 hrs prior.

  • Avoid retinols for 3-5 days before your service.

  • Avoid sun exposure as much as possible before your service. If you arrive sunburned, we will not be able to service you.

  • Do not have Botox done within 24 hours of your appointment.

  • Do not have filler done 2 weeks prior.

  • If you have ever had a cold sore, you must contact your primary care doctor to begin an oral antiviral regiment for any lip permanent makeup. Usually, you'll be instructed to start taking them the day before your appointment.

  • Understanding the Healing Process

Please keep in mind that we are creating a wound during the procedure, which may lead to some unavoidable side effects. These can include:

    • Swelling: This may last for up to 72 hours.

    • Pigment Irregularities: You might notice uneven color for up to one month.

    • Bruising: This varies based on your body’s response.

    • Sensitivity to Sun: Increased sensitivity in the treated area.

    • Scabbing and Itching: These are common during the healing process.

All of these reactions are normal and part of the healing journey.

Post Care

  • Immediately following your appointment, pat the area treated with a clean gauze every couple of minutes for 30-60 minutes post procedure (or until you do not see anymore lymph or pigment on the gauze).

  • Keep the area clean. You may begin to wash the wound 2 hours after your service. Only use gentle cleansers that do not contain any exfoliating ingredients, such as glycolic or salicylic, or the irritating ingredient, sodium laurel sulfate.

  • Avoid picking or scratching: Do not pick or scratch at the treated area, as this can lead to infection and may cause the pigment to fade or become uneven

  • Protect the area with ointment or cream: We recommend using Vaseline or aquaphor to keep the area protected. The more moist you keep it while it heals, the less scabbing will occur. The less scabbing, the more retention of pigment.

  • Avoid strenuous activities: Avoid activities that may cause sweating or irritation to the treated area, such as exercise or hot showers, for at least 24 hours  after the procedure.

  • Avoid makeup: Avoid wearing makeup on the treated area for at least a few days after the procedure. If you must wear makeup, be sure to use a gentle, oil-free formula and avoid rubbing or scratching the area. Remove the make up with a double or triple cleanse.

  • To maintain your results, it’s crucial to protect your skin from the sun. Sun exposure can deplete color and hinder healing. Starting 24 hours after your treatment, diligently apply sunscreen or cover the area while outdoors to shield it from UV rays. If you don’t have a wound-safe sunscreen, please purchase one before you leave or keep the area covered for the first two weeks of healing.

Contraindications

  • You cannot receive service if you have compromised skin. This includes sun exposure of any kind, burn or tan. Your tattoo will not heal predictably and retain if you are a regular sunbather.

  • Allergies to pigment. Sometimes we are unaware until it is introduced. If you have ever had a tattoo and had an allergic reaction, I suggest we do not try it out on your face.

  • Skin synthesizing medications such as Accutane® (Isotretinoin) or certain antibiotics

  • Any active infection will affect healing. Please reschedule if you are ill, have an active cold sore or skin rash.

  • Injectable treatments are amazing, please do not schedule these appointments close together. See pre care for details on timelines.

  • To receive treatment you must be of sound mind. We understand it can be scary to undergo any procedure. Any person intoxicated for their appointment will be banned from receiving treatments.

  • Cancer and chemo within 1 year

  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
